Business lessons 101
I encounter all sorts of interesting things speaking with people regarding home business opportunities. One of them that is very common is what I would like to address in this blog. Basically, that is the reaction of a prospect who automatically says a business opportunity is “too expensive” without actually doing any research. In my opinion, this is not only lazy, but for lack of a nicer word…stupid.
First of all, cost is not what business decisions are based on. Intelligent decisions are based on “Return on Investment”. For example, if I told you my business cost $10,000 (it doesnt, Im exaggerating to make a point), 80 percent of people would say “thats too much” and hang up. Fair enough. However, 20 percent would be intelligent enough to ask “what do I get in return?” Well, what if I said that Im selling you the New York Yankees, or the controlling interest in Wal-Mart? Giving up $10,000 to be a millionaire overnight doesnt sound too bad now does it? All costs are only meaningful in relation to what you get back. The bottom line is that 80 percent of people are simply too lazy to do their homework, or not educated enough to know that they should. The lazy ones may even eventually seek out a very low cost home business opp (you get what you pay for!!!) and then decide these opportunities dont work.
Here is a bit of advice for all of you considering a home business. First of all, dont be so lazy. Dont spend your time browsing 50 home business websites and doing nothing. Find the ones the pique your interest and find out everything you can about them. Second, as with any investment….find out what you will get in return. Read. Ask questions. Learn what you will have to do and what you can expect to make. Then make a decison. If you make decisions on how you are going to create an income and provide for your family based on the price tag alone, you are making a big mistake!
